New this year: Welcome Coach Dan!

We deliver the Skate Canada Power Skating Program which is exclusive to Skate Canada and is available only to Skate Canada member clubs and sanctioned skating schools. All participants must be registered with Skate Canada. Only Skate Canada member Coaches trained and certified at a CanPowerSkate Coaches Course are qualified to instruct the CanPowerSkate program. Skate Canada Programs: CanPowerSkate

Program requirements:

> Desire to learn and improve your skating.

> For safety reasons participants must wear full hockey equipment (CSA approved).

> Basic forward and backward skating skills (must be able to skate the length of the rink using alternate strides).

> Ability to stop on command without use of the boards.

> Seven years old at time of registraiton

> Although our program is geared to hockey players, strong recreational skaters are welcome (reminder - full hockey equipment is requried).

> New participants start on the 5:30 session unless prior assessment/arrangement confirmed.

Our sessions are interactive with both individual skill stations and group training. Skaters are grouped by ability, noting some skaters may skate either the first or second session to maximize their skill development.

Special thanks to all of last year’s volunteers, you made the year a success!

To make our program successful we need help with:

  • On Icehelpers, we are lucky to always have a number of volunteers helping our coaches.
  • Parent helpers available during sessions to assist with new registrants / parent questions.
  • Attendance Co-ordinator, checking off attendees & tracking volunteer hours for program assistants.
  • Parents watching their own children who have confirmed they are first aid trained, ready to help if/as needed (bonus if also a hockey trainer).

All tasks are easier when shared; let us know if you are available in helping.
